Consultation

Next, you will have a consultation with the doctors to discuss your health-related problems, concerns, and potential treatment options.

This initial visit is designed for our doctors to learn more about you, your condition, and expectations to determine how chiropractic care can meet your goals.

examination

After your consultation, the doctors will perform a complete chiropractic examination testing your reflexes and flexibility.

Other standard neurological, orthopedic, postural, and physical tests will be performed as well. However, nothing will be done in our office without your consent.

report of findings

Once the information is collected and examinations are performed, our doctors will give you a detailed report of all findings and answer any questions including:
How can you help me?
How often do I need to come in?
What will my treatment cost?

After reviewing your health history, goals, and examining your spine and X-rays, the doctors will discuss recommendations and notify you if your condition requires care with other providers. Our doctors will provide the best treatment and wellness program for your needs.

wellness program

Prior to leaving, the doctor will suggest a wellness program to incorporate outside of treatment. If you are in pain when you first come into our office this may include ice or heat application instructions, certain activities or positions to avoid, and at home exercises and/or stretches.

If you desire, our wellness team will work with you also to create healthy habits and routines for your lifestyle. Every person is unique, therefore everyone requires a customized wellness plan. The purpose of our wellness program is for you to achieve good spinal alignment, have a healthy diet, exercise, and maintain a positive mental state.

You will remain fully clothed for the duration of your visit, so we recommend you wear non-restrictive clothing to make it easier to rest comfortably while lying down on the table. A portion of your adjustment may be performed while you are face down, while other adjustments may be delivered while you are either on your side, sitting upright or lying on your back.

Chiropractic is based on the scientific fact that your body is a self-regulating, self-healing organism. The brain, spinal cord, and all the nerves of the body control these important functions. The moving bones of the spine protect the vulnerable communication pathways of the spinal cord and nerve roots. If the nervous system is impaired, it can cause malfunction of the tissues and organs throughout the body.

Chiropractic is the science of locating malfunctioning spinal structures, the art of reducing their impact to the nervous system, and the philosophy that, when working properly, the body has the potential to heal itself.

The popping sounds you hear are your joints releasing tiny pockets of gases. A chiropractic adjustment does not affect the bones of either side of the joint, but rather the connective tissue that holds the joint together.

Chiropractic is the largest, non-invasive, drugless and safest forms of health care available. Statistically, patient risk is substantially lower when receiving chiropractic care as opposed to medical care, where the use of prescription drugs and surgery pose a greater risk.

Chiropractic adjustment is a highly controlled procedure that rarely causes discomfort because minimal force and gentle pressure are used. In fact, most patients feel relief immediately following treatment.

Any reported soreness after an initial adjustment has been described as similar to that associated with starting a new exercise program. Drinking plenty of water, using an ice pack, and engaging in light stretching after your first visit can help ease any discomfort to promote healing.

This all depends on the length and severity of your condition, however, most first visits may last as much as 45 minutes. Follow-up visits are much less, often as little as 5-10 minutes.

At the end of your first visit, your doctor will determine the best course of treatment for your specific needs. The frequency in which you receive chiropractic care is strictly up to the professional judgment of the Doctor of Chiropractic and will vary from individual to individual depending on your presenting condition and overall goals. Just as regular visits to the dentist are necessary for good dental hygiene, routine visits to a Doctor of Chiropractic for proper spinal function and health maintenance are also important.
